KA1 Erasmus+ Grant Award
Following last year’s attendance to the Erasmus+ Course, our institute decided to apply for an Erasmus+ Grant for KA1 Actions in order to receive the funds needed for our teachers to attend more workshops / trainings / seminars all over Europe. With great pleasure, the institute’s application was approved in July 2023 and 3-4 trips are due to take place over the next 15 months by our teachers, regarding relevant trainings and workshops. This will give us a great opportunity to become educationally, technologically and professionally updated with latest research, therefore subsequently providing the best possible learning experience to our students.
Erasmus+ Course on ICT in My Classroom in Ljubljana, Slovenia
During December of 2023, Alberto successfully completed the Erasmus + Course on ICT in My Classroom: Enhance Students' Learning, Collaboration, Motivation and Creativity Across the Curriculum
The course was designed as an interactive process with an emphasis on project work, blending the process of a traditional classroom experience with a digital landscape – using applications, social media and gamification to enhance the classroom experience. Through the course, Alberto gained knowledge and applied specific ICT tools, engaged in actively sampling and using them individually and in groups and learnt how to adapt it to the institute’s classroom teaching process and experience across all age groups from youngsters to adults. The focus of the training was hands-on experiential learning and with a workshop approach. This new knowledge further builds on our existing methodology of learning through games as well as introducing new ideas and activities to be applied responsibly within a digital context and in line with the times.
Erasmus + Course on Development of Emotional Intelligence & Soft Skills
In August 2023, Athina attended an Erasmus+ Teacher Training Professional Development Course on the topic of “Mastering Soft Skills and Growing Emotional Intelligence Using Mindfulness”, in Split, Croatia. During the course, she had the chance to participate in several activities regarding individual differences, stress management, self-confidence, self-love, effective communication and so on. Such soft skills are highly important to the development of children, as well as the contribution of adults towards a mentally healthy and productive society. This attendance has led to the creation of several activities, for children and adults, which are planned to be implemented during the new school year in order to help students of all ages become more mindful individuals. This was the first trip within the institute’s Erasmus Grant and more will follow in the near future!
Erasmus + Course on Innovative Teaching Methodologies in Edinburgh
During the Summer of 2022, Athina successfully completed the Erasmus + Course on Innovative Teaching Methodologies in Edinburgh. She received a certificate with A* regarding her participation and final presentation. During her stay there, she networked with English teachers of different European countries and established collaborations with language schools all over Europe. This has given her the opportunity to exchange materials, ideas, lesson plans as well as even create student-to-student communication with the use of online platforms. The course was mainly based on the application of technology, gaming and other innovative methods to the classroom, which can be adapted according to the age, level or cognitive abilities of the students. Several of those activities were applied to last year’s lessons and were found to be thoroughly enjoyable and effective with respect to the students’ learning experience. This new knowledge builds on our existing methodology of learning through games as well as introducing new ideas and activities in order to enhance the development of language skills in an enjoyable way.
